Imperial’s Faculty of Medicine is undertaking research on less invasive means of surgery, which means shorter hospitalisation and recovery times for patients.

- David Miles, a visiting professor in Imperial College Business School is a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, which is responsible for setting the Bank of England interest rate, amongst other things.
- We host events such as the recent Innovation Summit, where leading financial experts spoke about the challenges faced by the economy.
- The Business School runs courses in finance for postgraduates, including an MSc in Finance, as well as a recently created MSc in Risk Management and Financial Engineering.
Imperial has recently received funding for research into designing and building unique ‘metamaterials’. An announcement was made in November 2009 about a £4.9 million funding boost from the Leverhulme Trust.
