Since 2001, Engineering World Health (EWH) Summer Institutes have provided students with the chance to use their engineering skills to improve healthcare in developing countries.

This summer, Imperial students have the opportunity to take part in Duke University’s EWH Summer Institute. Marcello and Sara will travel to Costa Rica to work in a community hospital, live with a local family and learn a new language. Four weeks of medical equipment and language training is followed by four weeks of hospital service when students will repair equipment, train local staff and perform vital engineering duties.
