Please note that it is not possible for Imperial to provide a pre-application assessment of your qualifications or comment on the suitability of an individual for a particular programme of study. The minimum entry requirements of each programme should give you an indication as to whether or not you should apply.

Most postgraduate courses do not have a published formal closing date, but you should be aware that popular courses close as they become full.

Please therefore ensure that you make your application for these courses as early  as possible, particularly if you are intending to apply for funding, and preferably by 30 July (overseas/EU applicants) or 1 September (UK applicants) to avoid disappointment. Funded PhD Studentships do have formal application deadlines which are accessed via Departmental websites.

In order to log into the College network, you will use the same username and password that you use to log into Student e-Service.

Please ensure you upload your documents to the Embark application system in the following format

 - PDF (created in Acrobat 7 and earlier)

 -  JPEG (.jpeg or .jpg)

Before accepting your offer in Student e-Service you must open and read the College’s conditions. Click the ‘Conditions’ button to open the Conditions of the offer. Once you have read through the information, click the ‘Return to Submit’ button in the bottom left corner of the screen to return to the previous page (do NOT use the browser’s ‘Back’ button). You will then be able to accept the offer.

Students should note that, if they wish to provide evidence of mitigating circumstances, they must submit a Mitigating Circumstances form to their Department, in advance of the examination which they feel might be affected by their circumstances.

In Step 4 of the application, you will be asked to register the email addresses of your two referees. These must be their official, institutional email addresses. Please do not enter web based email addresses such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail 163.com etc, as these will not be accepted.

If your referees do not receive the automated notification from the Embark system, you can arrange for it to be re-sent.

This can be done by logging in to your application and going to Section 4 – Referees. In the Reference Status screen, you will see an option to ‘Resend Registration Email’. Please only do this if you are certain your referee has not received the automated notification email from Embark.

Please do not chase the referee via the Embark system by resending the registration email multiple times. In such cases applicants must contact their referee by email or telephone outside of the online application environment.

Please note that all applications for Undergraduate study at Imperial must be made through UCAS.

The following Departments have English language requirements which are higher than the College minimum for undergraduate applicants:

Faculty of Natural Sciences

Department of Life Sciences: 7.0 overall in IELTS, with 7.0 in both writing and speaking

Department of Mathematics: 6.5 overall in IELTS, with 6.5 in all elements of the test

The following Departments have English langauge requirements which are higher than the College minimum for postgraduates applicants:

Faculty of Natural Sciences

Humanities: IELTS - 7.0 overall with 6.0 in writing and 6.0 in speaking

Faculty of Engineering

Department of Chemical Engineering: Will not accept any pre-sessional course, including that offered by Imperial, for MSc applicants who fall slightly below the minimum requirements.

Imperial College Business School

Imperial College Business School has different requirements to the College minimum. These can be viewd on the entry requirements pages of the individual programmes
