Balancing act
Last week as I made my way towards the Main Entrance at the end of the day I was distracted by a number of mysterious objects hurtling through the sky. I wasn’t seeing things, nor had Dalby Court been graced with an influx of UFOs, instead I encountered three students from Imperial’s Juggling Society who were practising their skills on campus, over the summer break. Impressed by their ability to keep so many balls in the air, I began thinking about the juggling each of us does on a daily basis in our varied roles at Imperial. For any of you searching for a clear path through competing priorities as the start of the academic term rapidly approaches, Dr Magdalena Bak-Maier (Learning and Development Centre) recommends taking a step back and asking yourself “what is it I’m trying to achieve here?” and only proceeding once you have the answer. To find out about the many activities College staff have been busy juggling to prepare for the new starters see the main feature.
