The Human Performance Group at Imperial College London invites Imperial staff to participate in a new research study exploring peoples’ preferences for wearable medical sensing devices. An online questionnaire has been developed that staff can fill in regarding this topic.

The term wearable sensing device for medical applications refers to any system that is connected to the body and measures clinical relevant information. The devices can be used to diagnose, prevent and treat disease. These devices provide healthcare that is specific to each patient by measuring information away from the clinic.

This is the first university led study in the world that aims to gather the opinions of potential users on new medical devices that can be worn. The obtained information will be used to improve the design and development of new devices. The Human Performance Group are looking for staff member’s opinions on this topic. Anyone can participate in this online study, but the Group are especially interested in the preferences of people who suffer from osteoarthritis. The preferences of osteoarthritis patients will be directly used within the Medical Engineering Solutions in Osteoarthritis Centre of Excellence at Imperial College London. They will also be utilised to develop a design guideline that is freely available to anyone.

The online questionnaire can be found here

It takes about 10 minutes to fill in the questionnaire.

If you have questions about this study, please contact the study by email.
