Another video blog!

Don’t forget to check out Chris’ posts, and also, pictures of fairy-cakes! (And John, so he can have more crazy images to his name on Google Images!)

I have this habit of revising less and less as the exams get nearer. This is tragic for my grades but great for my blog. So, this is what I’ve been up to since we arrived…

Fruity Genoese sponge fairy-cakes. It's cream, not icing.

We got in late on Sunday and I spent my evening tidying my room. Went to bed at midnight (very bad) but woke up at 7.30 on Monday. A good start. We were both working in the Finance Office (both being Tom and I) and set off before receiving a phone-call from our boss to say ‘no don’t come now, come later’. That was fine, we went back home and two hours later emerged for a bit of…flat hunting!

Tom and I decided last week that we are going to part ways with our (rather wonderful) housemates. The biggest reason for this is I want a kitchen that I can make a mess of without feeling guilty about it. And we also all have too much stuff to fit in the current one. Our house is also a ‘typical student house’ – I will definitely do a video of it, similar to the one I did in my last post about my home house. This will be more informative than the other one!

A surprising colour to freak out the housemates!

Anyway, we can’t stand the rubbishness of it all anymore. So we are MOVING. On Monday afternoon as a result, we went and looked at a flat in South Kensington. The ad was amazing, but the flat not so much. It was a case of walking in and going…umm, no (and then having to walk around pretending we were seriously considering it).

Anyway I’m not going to go on about that because we are going to see more flats tomorrow and I will do a more extensive description of looking for accommodation then.

Me with my butterfly cakes. Part of the reason we want to move out can be seen on the wall behind.

Tom bought me a fairy cake recipe book for…well, randomly last term. John and I have decided to make cakes (he has the Hummingbird book), so we invited him round last night for the first batch. They were not so good…they were Genoese sponge which I didn’t really like, though I did appreciate that they were dairy-free sponge. I then added double cream, oops. John went home late after a hushed discussion in the hallway about the Deptford Mice, which he seemed to think he’d made up because nobody at Uni had heard about them. I have though – amazing books by Robin Jarvis!

Anyway, today we went to work, walked to Putney for some revision relief, and had a BBQ followed by butterfly cakes, which are possibly the best fairy-cakes I’ve ever made. If anyone wants me to put the recipe up, say so as I’m not convinced anyone is actually reading my recipes and hence can’t be bothered!

BBQ time, woot!

Excuse the frequency with which I apologise for having no news. I didn’t realise how many times I said it and it’s too late now!
