The Eurovision Song Contest – a competition where music artists from across Europe (and a few overflow nations) come together to compete.
This year was the 57th Eurovision song contest – held in Malmo, Sweden. Here are a few of my personal favourites
Malta This is my favourite one. Apparently he’s a Doctor too! Unfortunately the live versions wasn’t a good – so it didn’t do as well as I had hoped!
Greece It’s terrible until 40s in then it’s hilarious!
Finland (I was surprised this didn’t do a lot better)
Denmark As Denmark won – this is a must watch.
Denmark opens with Ronan Keating on the Penny Whistle…
UPDATE*** http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-22600892 – so apparently Azerbaijan has launched an investigation into why they gave Russia “nil points.” via Chris Bannon
Whilst at Imperial it has become a “tradition” a few friends and I to gather together to unleash “amusing” comments about the acts and various nations. This year, much to the dismay of my friends on Facebook I decided to post “a few” of these comments to Facebook. However this went a little overboard and it appears that I managed to successfully take over facebook for approximately 600 people last night. Whoops…
Here are a few of my “Favourites”:
“Oh Finland – cheeky finish.
Might win. If not we’d be happy to console her….”
“Spain- Flat, but nice yellow dress… Like a banana.”
“Belgium’s answer to Justin Bieber!”
Me “Wow- they have two stages!
Friend “If it was in Greece they wouldn’t have a stage at all!”
“Armenia – Sunglasses indoors – SO ROCK AND ROLL! Nice wind machine…”
“Romania… I know it’s meant to be the home of Dracula but this is ridiculous…”
On the English Entry… Friend 2 “She looks a bit like Mrs. Doubtfire”
Me: “Bonnie Tyler looks a lot like Stifler’s Mom”
“Iceland’s cheating – they’ve got Thor representing them…”
This is for my fellow blogger Liam Smith – at his request!!
