Something really interesting happens during these days:

Firstly, once I was studying at the fifth floor of the central library, I heard someone singing R&B out loud. The room was so quiet that you could even hear a pin drops. But the singer drew our attention when he suddenly starts to rap in the centre of the fifth floor.

I kind of waited for the guard to come, but after five minutes, the singer finished his song and left and there was still no guard coming~  Astonished!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, one day I took the lift of the central library going down from the fifth floor to the second first one.  It stopped at the fourth floor and some guy came in. After a sec, he suddenly turned to me:”Is this up or down?” Intuitively I reflected:”Up!” while my index finger was pointing downwards at the same time.

Both of us were stunned and then he laughed “Down, right?”

I nodded and felt so embarrassed!

Lastly, we had a lecture on Tuesday. A mobile was ringing for almost 2 minutes and no one ever turned it down. We all looked around and ever the professor stopped teaching and we were together finding the source.

Then, a man bent and opened his bag on the floor. He found his phone and switched it off. He was so shy and said:”Sorry, it is new.”

We all ended bursting into laughter.

Life is always full of surprise. And it is never lack of beauty, what we are lack of is always the eyes which can always find the art of life.

I start to learn how to enjoy every normal day we are leading and be happy for the trivial stuff in our life.

Spring finally comes~

The Queen’s Lawn is full of students and they lie on the grass enjoying the beautiful sunshine~

I had my second reading week at the end of February.

Before it started, I had made a detailed plan of the week!

I scheduled to make a review of all the courses, do sports and have some leisure activities~

However, things went completely out of order.

First, I slept quite a lot during the week.

Then, I started to watch an American TV series call Friends. It was so well-known but a little out-of-date. I was determined to finish the series as soon as possible, since it was so classical that it was regret for me to not watch it.

I am moved by the solid friendship among these six friends. Each of them has a strong character:  Phoebe is my favourite character. She is full of humour and always optimistic of her life. She loves singing, which is not so good to be honest. She had a miserable childhood, even worse than Chandler’s. However, she holds a completely different attitude. She can make fun of it and it means she can face it bravely instead of avoiding it. She fancies all her friends and devotes to help them without any complaints.

Joey is my second favourite.  He is like an older brother and you can totally depend on him anytime.  I am not sure ignorance is fit for him, but he is kind of really ‘stupid’ sometimes.  He cares about food so much that you can find his most frequent line is sandwich.  He is sympathetic and you can see that from the way he treats his duck and chick.  He makes a lot of mistakes in the series and everyone loves him while laughing at him.

The couple Bings warms my heart. They two use their love to overcome so much difficulty in life. Monica feels unloved by her parents and she is critical of everything and tries to be perfect in every possible way. As I have said, Chandler has a really miserable childhood and is afraid of marriage and commitments. However, these two best friends finally get married and lead a happy life ever after.

Ross and Rachel have gone through quite a lot. There is too much about them and I do not know where to start.

Besides, many of my friends go back to China this week. How I envy them!

Sometimes, I dreamed of going back to home at night and missed my parents even more when I woke up~

The reading week is finally over and my life goes back to its original track.

Hopefully, everything will be fine~

This is a totally new experience for me, instead of being together with my family, I volunteer in the relay~

It was really cold on Saturday and I realized that I have stand for at least 3 hours in the chilly weather. I felt really bad in the beginning~

Faraz and I stood in one corner of Hyde Park to guide the runners~

Before it started, Faraz and I kept talking in order to ignore the coldness~

Once it began, I was totally attracted to the match.

You could find out so many people participate in this match regardless of age.

I was moved by their spirit. Most of them were not coming for the rewards and they just ran for fun. Winning the match was definitely the only motivation of the match and it was human spirit that inspired them.

We kept yelling to the runners: “Come on!” “Keep running!” “Excellent!”

Though we were frozen to death, our spirit was so high that I wondered maybe someday I would be one of the runners~

It was really a meaningful day for me~

I learned a lot, enjoyed a lot and met new friends~

Photos will be uploaded shortly~

Chinese New Year is coming this Saturday~

This is the first time I’m going to spend it myself in a foreign country~

Every year before this time, we usually have a whole big family reunion.

At the Eve of the Lunar New Year, women are preparing the food and decorating the house; Men are talking and playing cards or Majiang; Children are busy playing around the house.

We usually decorate our doors with Spring Festival couplets, scissor-cuts and a red squared paper with 福 on it, which means good fortune. Especially, when you put it upside down, it indicates the good fortune is coming to your family!scissor-cut 1spring festival couplets1

At night, we gather around the TV watching Spring Festival Gala on CCTV. Dumplings are certainly the main dish that night~ Several coins may put into the dumplings and who eat the ones with coin will have a lucky year~ That’s the tradition, but be careful of your teeth~

At sharp 24:00, the fire crackers go off everywhere and people are wishing for a happy New Year!

On the first day of Chinese New Year, adults will give money to children and kids need to kowtow. As long as you are not working, you can get some money from your relatives and this is the most enjoyable moment for many kids~

In China, there are 12 animals stand for each year. Can you make a guess?

12 animals

This year, it is the year of Tiger and I am a “tiger”. When you come across your year, the tradition is to wear anything red to avoid bad luck of the year~

We decide to celebrate it in advance and in the Chinese restaurant where we first had dinner together~

In Chinese, it goes that you will feel especially lonely when you are coming across a festival in a foreign country~

Therefore, it is really great to have friends around you~

Jan. 9 was my birthday and my original plan was to study by then~

It was really interesting that almost all of my birthdays were the days for exams for those twenty years.

I almost never spent a special birthday myself and usually I would celebrate it days after that`

However, my first birthday in London was so great with friends around me to celebrate for me even though they had very heavy work to do themselves~

Friends sent messages to say happy birthday to me~ Thank you~

Xue sang the birthday song to me through phone and sent me a present that day. Thanks so much~

Chuyi even brought a birthday cake to me, which was totally out of my expectation~ Thanks~

I was so moved by all the warm greetings from all of my friends~

Thanks for you all~

My world is so wonderful because of you~~~~~~~~~~

At the last day of December, we gathered at the Waterloo Bridge waiting for the New Year to come and the famous fireworks~

It was freezing outside, especially after waiting for 4 hours~ But our spirit was so high that we did not feel our feet frozen~

The fireworks was fantastic and we even saw the first snow of the new year right after the fireworks~

People were so exiting and hugged all around with each other~

It was a new way of welcoming New Year~ In China, what we do is to gather in unit of family and we never went out to meet others. However, it is totally different here. People welcome all the people around the world and they enjoy the union of people to welcome the New Year together~

I love London in any way~
