AMMP Fluid Dynamics GroupWelcome to the Fluid Dynamics Group, part of the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics Section at Imperial College London. This site provides contact details, research interests and publication information for members of AMMP and associates working on fluid dynamics problems. The site also provides details of fluid dynamics related events, both within Imperial College, and at other institutions worldwide.
Spotlight on FDG member: Grigorios PavliotisMy research interests include the modelling and simulation of particles in fluid flows. I am particularly interested in studying inertial particles in random flows with a given statistical structure. The particle inertia renders the mathematical analysis of the problem more interesting than that of the passive tracer case and it leads to new physical phenomena such as the clustering of particles (preferential concentration). I have already studied rapid decorrelation (i.e. Kraichnan like) limits and eddy diffusivity models for inertial particles. I am currently investigating whether eddy diffusivity modelling is possible for non-smooth velocity fields.
