Fourth Physiological Flow Meeting: Respiratory Biomechanics

and Physiological Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems

University of Manchester, UK
2-3 April 2007
Funded by the EPSRC.
Local Organisers: Matthias Heil, Paul Dark

The fourth meeting of the UK Physiological Flow Network will focus on the respiratory biomechanics and physiological fluid structure interaction problems. As in previous meetings we will have presentations from UK experts. In addition, plenary presentations will be given by Professor Don Gaver (Tulane, USA) and Professor Frank Baaijens (Eindhoven, Netherlands). We also had a large number of contributed posters covering a wide-range of topics.

Poster Competition

Similar to the third physiological meeting a PhD student poster competition during the meeting. The three winning posters were:

First prize: "Inhomogeneous reopening of a bifurcating flexible airway"
Peter Stewart, University of Nottingham (0.6Mb)

Runner-up:"Analytical and computational investigations of sub cellular variations in LDL concentration polarisation on the luminal side of the endothelium",
Peter Vincent, Imperial College London (1Mb)

Runner-up: "Evidence of LV wall movement actively decelerating aortic blood flow"
Chloe Page, Brunel University (0.25Mb)
